Reliable serial communication over USB

Today we were able to get reliable serial communication from our c program. The problem that we had was that we didn’t wait long enough for the serial connection to be established before sending some initialization parameters to the sketch on the arduino. The sketch was written in such a way that if the initialization code was not successfully sent it would not be in a state ready for servo positions.
